A racing bed raced against wheelchairs at North Ridge Village Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Albion Wednesday afternoon. Bed "drivers" Wilton and Ruby Phares won the first of two races. The event was part of the Indianapolis 500 "Back Home in Indiana" community contest entry for Albion. At the finish line over a path of simulated bricks, the winners were greeted by their son, dairy farmer Steve Phares, who provided celebratory milk. Phares provided milk for the 2006 Indianapolis 500 winner, Sam Hornish.
